family fun half term at Cheddar Woods

Family fun around Cheddar Woods this summer half term, activities, falconry and lots more in the heart of the Somerset countryside. In the heart of the beautiful Mendip Hills, Cheddar Woods Resort & Spa is surrounded by nature to marvel at. Take a wander through the hills, or join in on a Go Active event. But you may want explore the local area, with Glastonbury only 20 minutes drive away and Dunster Castle so close there is loads on offer this half term…

When: 1st – 3rd June

Dunster Castle has lots to offer over half term so check their website for anything you think you’ll enjoy! For the Victorian Falconry you visit the Victorian Hawk House, where a variety of majestic hawks, owls and falcons can be seen at roost. The falconers will be in Victorian period costumes to suit the event, watch the beautiful birds take flight during the set demonstrations, each one a little different and some even needing volunteers! You’ll meet the wonderful and knowledgeable falconers, the breathtaking birds and even the beautiful Bella the working dog (not my Bella, she’s too much of a Princess to work…)

When: 28th – 31st May

This night out is sure to be a blast, completely glamorous, full of high energy and is fully interactive! The performers will be singing all the hits from the blockbuster movie (dreamy Ewan McGreggor), Satine will be belting our that Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend! After the show, indulge in a fabulous meal and try your luck at the Casino tables, with a prize for the most successful gambler!

Where: Tyntesfield
When: 28th May – 31st May

Bank holiday weekend will be the last weekend for the fun Victorian Festival, with a band of steam engines to marvel at in the vintage and historical setting. Queen Victoria’s soldier’s will also be popping into say hello, and of course a quick selfie with you! And then Queen Victoria herself will be making her annual inspection of Tyntesfield, always an anticipated event! Great family day in beautiful surroundings!

Dunster Castle also has a really fun Knight School on over the half term holidays where children can learn how to be a Knight and what it took to be the best! Also you can make your own helmet and give jousting a go on the wooden hobby horses!
