Thanet Well Lodge Retreat

If you are looking for walking holidays in the Lake District, you should consider our Thanet Well Lodge Retreat, which is located near Greystoke Forest in Cumbria. The resort is located in a stunning natural environment with many of the areas famous Lake within easy driving range.

You could decide to head to the highest mountain in England – Scafell Pike which has an elevation of 3,209 feet above sea level, and forms one third of the popular Three Peaks Challenge. Why not scale this famous mountain and enjoy the spectacular panoramic views from the peak, where on a clear day you can see other mountains from across the UK including Wales, Ireland, Scotland and the Isle of Man.

Another popular walking destination in this glorious region is Coniston Water which is the third largest lake in the Lake District with a length of five miles and width of half a mile. This is a peaceful location to explore and stunning views. You may also catch a glimpse of the Victorian steam yacht Gondola, which has been renovated by the National Trust and sails between March and November.

Talking of Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, why not consider walking holidays in the Isle of Wight from our Woodside Coastal Retreat in Cowes where you will have access to a private shingle beach.

There are plenty of scenic walking locations to be taken advantage of here, including the 57 miles of varied coastline which is both aesthetically pleasing and also challenging in places. Nearly 30 miles of the seashore is designated as Heritage Coast and can be easily accessed near Cowes.

Also available in Cowes is the Red Squirrel Trail which has mostly been created from disused railway lines. Take advantage of the stunning wildlife habitats including woodlands, wetlands and farming countryside along the way on this breathtaking trail. As the name suggests, you can expect to see the odd red squirrel or two during your walk.
