Lonely Planet have just released their ‘100 Best Beaches in the World for 2024’, four of them being in the UK!
There are so many incredible beaches across the world, but in our opinion, the UK coastline has some of the best. And now that Lonely Planet has released their top 100 list for 2024 and included four beaches in the UK, we know we aren’t the only ones who think it! Within the list you will find a beach in Wales, two in England and one in Scotland, two of these beaches are actually only a stones throw away from two of our resorts…
Durdle Door, Dorset
Known for being one of the most iconic parts of the Jurassic Coast, Durdle Door features a sand and shingle beach and an impressive natural limestone arch set out of the sea. Whether you are looking for a beach day or want to walk around the area along the coastal path it is a place you don’t want to miss. Its stunning turquoise water is also popular for swimming and paddle boarding in the warmer months.

It is one of the most photographed beaches in Cornwall. When the tide is low, you’ll be able to explore all the caves and rocks that surround the cove. To get down to the cove from the car park you can enjoy a 10-minute walk that takes you along the rugged coastline.
nearest resort? Mullion Cove Coastal Retreat

which other UK beaches were listed?
Rhossili Bay, Wales
Rhossili Bay is one of the four beaches mentioned in Lonely Planet’s top 100 list. Located in Swansea, Wales on the edge of the Gower Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The 3 mile stretch of golden sand is reached via a steep cliff top path where you can enjoy some breathtaking birds eye views of the coastline. It has won multiple awards over the years including Britain’s Best Beach by TripAdvisor.
West Beach, Scotland
West Beach runs the length of Berneray in the Outer Hebrides offering 3 miles of white sand made up of broken shells. It’s a popular beach for walking with views out to sea where you can see the Harris Hills in the distance. The island itself is only 10 square kilometres so is easily explored at the same time as your visit to West Beach. One of the most popular things to do on the east side of the island is seal spotting at a dedicated seal viewing point car park.
