Haynes International Motor Museum is getting all revved up for the new Formula 1 season with a brand new exhibition. The Yeovil based attraction will be temporarily displaying Mark Webber’s championship challenging Red Bull Renault RB6 from the 2010 season.
Webber battled for the title in this very machine in what was one of the most exciting and unpredictable seasons in the championship’s history. The Red Bull Renault RB6 was undoubtedly the class of the field with the Australian winning four races and his team mate Sebastian Vettel picking up five wins as the pair helped the team wrap up the Constructor’s Championship for the first time in their history.
However, poor reliability let both drivers down and gave Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso and the McLaren pairing of Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton a fighting chance in less competitive machinery. Webber still entered the final race of the season 2nd in the Driver’s Championship just eight points behind Alonso and seven ahead of Vettel.
It all went wrong for the Australian in this race with a poor strategic call following a safety car period caused by a collision between Michael Schumacher and Tonio Liuzzi relegating him to an 8th place finish and handing team-mate Vettel the first of his four Driver’s Championships.
You can now view this historic Adrian Newey designed machine at the Haynes International Motor Museum for a temporary period. This is a fantastic attraction near Cheddar Woods Resort & Spa which is a great day out for the whole family with over 400 cars on display.
There will also be a Motorland Easter Egg Hunt taking place over Easter weekend (Friday 25th -Monday 28th March) with two hunts occurring on each day at 11am and 3pm. There is no need to book and is available at no extra cost for those who have paid admission to the museum.
Why not drop in and see your favourite car?
