Are you looking to escape to Tilford Woods Lodge Retreat?
Before you do make sure you check out our list of days out near the resort. Tilford Woods is in Farnham, Surrey and is just a short drive away from so many amazing things to do. But if you have never been to the area before you won’t know about some of these things. So, to make things easier we have put together this handy list of different things to do and days out for you to consider when you are visiting us.
Birdworld
Holt Pound Ln, Farnham, GU10 4LD | 14 min drive from resort
Birdworld is a zoo in Farnham covering 26 acres and home to over 1,200 birds and other animals. There are two separate penguin exhibits at the zoo, Penguin Island and Penguin Beach with Humbolt and African penguins. There are also various owl species, parrots, flamingos, various endangered bird species and a farm with goats, rabbits, pigs, and sheep. It’s a great day out for families and you can easily spend the whole day here exploring. There is also a restaurant offering various hot and cold food and drinks and smaller kiosks dotted around the zoo.
Waverley Abbey
Waverley Ln, Farnham, GU9 8EP | 7 min drive from resort
Waverley Abbey is famous for being the very first monastery founded in Britain and a group of monks from France settled here in 1128. The remains are impressive and worth a visit when you are in the area, from the 13th century vaulted refectory to the ancient Yew tree growing in the grounds. The Abbey is free to enter and is open during daylight hours. There is also a café that is open inside the Waverley Abbey house which has incredible views of the Abbey that you can enjoy as you sit with a coffee.
Farnham Park
Folly Hill, Farnham, GU9 0AU | 14 min drive from resort
Farnham Park is under 15 minutes away from the resort and is a 131-hectacre nature reserve and medieval deer park. It is the perfect day out and across the 131-hectacres you will find plenty of grasslands, sports fields, a play area and a range of walking paths to explore. There is a café and toilets in the park so you can get something to eat or drink on your way around, or it is also popular to grab some bits and have a picnic on the grass in the park.
The Sculpture Park
Jumps Rd, Churt, Farnham, GU10 2LB | 5 min drive from resort
Set within 10 acres of lakes, woodland, and walkways The Sculpture Park has around 600 sculptures for you to discover. The sculptures you will find vary from abstract to animal, bronze, and steel and even stone. It’s a great few hours out and you can see how many of the contemporary and modern sculptures you can find that are dotted all around the parkland. And since it is only a 5-minute drive away from the resort it is something you could easily fit into your day.
Thorpe Park
Staines Rd, Chertsey, KT16 8PN | 41 min drive from resort
Although it isn’t completely local, if you have come from further afield a day out to Thorpe Park whilst your down south could be a great idea. Perfect for adrenaline seekers, Thorpe park is home to over 30 rides and family attractions and is known for being one of the best theme parks in the UK. See if you are brave enough to ride on Stealth, the UK’s fastest roller coaster, or SAW – The Ride which is the world’s first horror themed roller coaster with a 100ft drop.
Alice Holt Forest
Farnham, GU10 4LS | 18 min drive from resort
Alice Holt Forest is part of Forestry England and is a 247 hectare forest in Farnham. With lots of different trails you can choose the perfect walking route for you as you explore the winding paths through the forest. As well as the walking trails there is one that has unique Gruffalo Sculptures to discover along the way and you can pick up a trail pack from the visitor centre. There is also a Go Ape here if you are wanting some adrenaline fuelled fun during your holiday.
Warner Bros. Studio Tour
Studio Tour Dr, Leavesden, Watford, WD25 7LR | 1hr drive from resort
Harry Potter fans will be pleased to know that the Warner Bros. Studio Tour is only an hours drive away from the resort. And what better way to spend a day on holiday than exploring the authentic sets, props and costumes from the films. It’s a great experience and perfect for those who love the films and want to learn more about the makings behind the franchise. There are various tours you can choose from as well as the studio shop where you can buy all sorts of Harry Potter themed merchandise.
