Yaverland Beach - family friendly walks on the Isle of Wight

Yaverland Beach

Sandown, PO36 8QS

Overall, the Isle of Wight is known for being the UK’s dinosaur capital and Yaverland Beach is one of the best places to try and search for some fossils. Located on the east coast along a 20 mile stretch you can enjoy as long of a walk as you please along the beach whilst having the excitement of searching for fossils. The trick is to look for dark heavy stones that have a shiny surface, ridges and bubbly looking insides, and you will be best searching at low tide or after a storm. Whether you find any fossils or not, the walk itself makes a great day out for all.
