New luxury retreat at Blenheim Palace to be jewel in the crown for Darwin Escapes
Darwin Escapes is set to offer a new way to experience Blenheim Palace, one of the UK’s most historic country estates, after partnering with the estate to launch a new range of luxury staycation lodges.
Construction on Blenheim Palace Lodge Retreat has just begun this summer, with the collection of one, two and three-bedroom lodges set to be completed and open in 2023.
Situated in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, Blenheim Palace is one of England’s most popular and recognisable attractions. Home to the 12th Duke of Marlborough and his family, the 18th-century venue was the birthplace of legendary British prime minister Sir Winston Churchill and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.
Set beside the estate’s vast 2000-acre grounds and ideal for couples, friends and families, the lodges will come equipped with fully equipped kitchens, dining and living areas and will offer the perfect home-away-from-home to enjoy a break in the Oxfordshire countryside.
In addition, each building will be fully electric and be fitted with air-source heat pumps, which act as a low-carbon and low-energy method of heating buildings to reduce the impact on the environment.
The gateway to the Cotswolds and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty of over 800 square miles, Oxfordshire boasts plenty of attractions, such as the city of Oxford with its university campus and the Bodleian Library, as well as the shopping hub of Bicester Village. Oxfordshire is the perfect location for a countryside break.
Roger File, Chief Operations Officer and Property Director at Blenheim Palace Estate, said: ”We are proud to be working with Darwin Escapes and are looking forward to them opening next year. We think the product and opportunity they bring to this partnership will support the local tourism economy and enable people to enjoy the area and Blenheim Palace for longer.”
Blenheim Palace Lodge Retreat is the second holiday venue in Oxfordshire that Darwin Escapes features and follows The Springs Resort and Golf Club in Wallingford, which offers guests the opportunity to stay in the hotel or lodges, with a stunning spa and a golf course on site.
Drew Campbell, operations director of Darwin Escapes, said: “It is fantastic to have this project underway at what is a wonderful location. We are incredibly thankful for the support that Blenheim Palace have offered throughout this process, and we look forward to seeing the lodges open next year!”
