what to do before checking in?
Make sure you start your holiday before you check into Bath Mill Lodge Retreat by visiting Bath. You can’t check into your accommodation till 4pm but that gives you a great amount of time to explore the city of Bath seeing as it is under a 15-minute drive away from the resort. Although it is known for its incredible Roman Baths which you can visit, there are plenty of other things to see and do to keep you busy for the day as well. From museums to beautiful parks and various famous bridges. And the options are endless when it comes to places to stop for a bite to eat or drink during your visit.

With Bath Mill Lodge Retreat being so close to the city centre you will find that there is a huge number of things to see and do in the local area. Below you will find a list of the five top things to do in the area.
1. Royal Victoria Park
11 min drive from resort
The Royal Victoria Park is the largest park in Bath and is a great place to explore. Set across 57 acres there is so much to see and do from a skatepark, lake, crazy golf course, tennis course, play areas and more to discover. There are also areas where you can sit and enjoy a picnic to make it a cheap family day out. It’s a great park to explore all year round from soaking up the sun in the summer months to enjoying an autumnal walk in October.
2. The Jane Austen Centre

Learn all about the life and the times of the famous writer at The Jane Austen Centre. Costumed guides take you on a journey through the centre as they educate and entertain you about the life of Bath’s most famous resident. There will be options to dress up using the collection of dresses, bonnets, coats and more. As well as so much more to see and do throughout the experience. Once you’ve gone around it all you can enjoy some delicious cakes, tea, or light lunch at The Regency Tea Room.
3. Avon Valley Adventure & Wildlife Park

Enjoy a family day out for all ages when you visit Avon Valley Adventure & Wildlife Park. Set in over 90 acres of parkland you will find something for everyone during your day here. There is an 4×4 mini jeep safari, adventure play area, climbing walls, nature trails, children’s assault course, and interactive dinosaurs in their prehistoric area. Enjoy learning about various animals like ponies, meerkats, alpacas, reindeer and more in the wildlife park. Or enjoy a bite to eat at one of their delicious food options around the park.
4. The Roman Baths
15 min drive from resort
Learn all about the 2,000 years of history that surround the incredible Roman Baths in Bath city centre. Known for being one of the best-preserved Roman remains in the world and one of the most known things to see whilst you are in Bath. The Roman Baths was a place that people came to worship the goddess Sulis Minerva and bathe in the waters of the natural thermal springs. The springs still flow with hot water today and you can explore the ruins and discover the museum collection that they also have.
5. Thermae Bath Spa
15 min drive from resort
Relax and unwind in the city centre by visiting the Thermae Bath Spa, an adult only spa (minimum age of admission is 16 years old). It reopened in 2006 after combining the historic spa and contemporary building to create the Thermae Bath Spa. With a rooftop pool, relaxation rooms, infrared rooms, ice champers, experience showers, steam rooms and more to explore during your visit you will find the perfect place for you to relax in. There is also the Springs Café where you can enjoy a bite to eat before or after your spa experience.

Although the accommodation at Bath Mill is self-catering and we have The Brook Bar & Bistro you may want to head out of the resort for a meal once or twice during your stay. Below you will find a range of places to go if you are wanting to eat out.
1. The Globe
5 min drive from resort
Enjoy a rustic country pub inside a building that was originally built in the 17th century. Just a 5-minute drive away from the resort you will be able to enjoy a range of delicious pub classics or their everchanging seasonal dishes. It’s the perfect choice all year round from sitting in their stunning gardens in the summer months to cosying up by the log fires in the winter.
2. The Moorfields
9 min drive from resort
Enjoy a meal at the family friendly gastropub in Oldfield Park. The Moorfields is the perfect place for traditional dishes, Sunday roasts and hot breakfasts. No matter what time of day it is if you are wanting to head off resort for a bite to eat this is a great option. They serve breakfast from 8am – 11am and lunch and dinner is from 12pm – 9pm.
3. Velo Lounge

With a relaxed, bohemian vibe throughout the restaurant, Velo Lounge is a great place to go for any meal of the day. With an incredible menu serving all-day breakfast, delicious flatbreads, salads, burgers and even tapas. There will be something for everyone to enjoy when you head to Velo Lounge.
4. The Locksbrook Inn

Located in the middle of Bath city centre and the resort, The Locksbrook Inn is the perfect place to go for anything from breakfast and evening meals to lunch and coffee. You can reserve a table for the tables inside or turn up and see if there is a table available on the outside terrace. There menu has plenty of choice and uses fresh ingredients to create each dish.
5. The Old Crown Inn
13 min drive from resort
The Old Crown Inn is just on the outskirts of Bath city centre and is a traditional country pub with a contemporary twist. When it comes to food you can expect to see a range of country pub classics like pie, burgers, and fish and chips. They also have an amazing garden which can be used for events or just as a place to sit outside in the warmer months.
