Located in the historic town, Stratford-upon-Avon Lodge Retreat is the perfect escape for anyone looking to relax and recharge.
The retreat is surrounded by the beautiful Warwickshire countryside which means there are endless walking routes and trails you can enjoy during your holiday. But sometimes it can be hard trying to find out what walks are around. So, we’ve done some research and put together different walks that are ranging in length to suit all.
1-5km walks
Welcombe Park Circuit
start: Hampton Lucy Village Hall – 11 minute drive from resort
distance: 3.9km
duration: 1hrs
This circular trail takes you around Welcombe Hills Country Park and is extremely popular for walking so expect to see plenty of people along the way. It’s overall an easy route with some inclines and beautiful views so it’s definitely a walk you will want to try if you are looking for something short to add to your plans.
Stratford Riverside Walk
start: Stratford Marina Car Park – 11 minute drive from resort
distance: 2.4km
duration: 30mins-1hr
The Stratford Riverside Walk is an out and back trail that takes you along the River Avon. It’s an easy route that can be done by any ability. Enjoy some amazing views over the water as you make your way along the river and back towards Stratford-upon-Avon. There are also various places to sit and enjoy the views along the path.
Clifford Chambers via Stratford-upon-Avon
start: The New Inn Hotel – 13 minute drive from resort
distance: 4.7km
duration: 1-1.5hrs
The Clifford Chambers via Stratford-upon-Avon will take you across paved roads, woodland, and farmland in the 4.7km circular trail. It’s a great walk that isn’t far from the resort and gives you a good mix of countryside and country village. The walk itself can be completed in under 90 minutes so is the perfect addition to any day out.
Weston-on-Avon to Binton
start: Weston Church – 18 minute drive from resort
distance: 4.5km
duration: 1-1.5hrs
This is a point-to-point walking trail which takes you from Weston-on-Avon to Binton and can be completed in under 90 minutes. The trail goes along a range of terrain from fields to along the river and past some picturesque houses. The route is overall quite flat too so its perfect for all abilities and ages who like walking.
6-10km walks
Luddington River Circular Walk
start: Paddock Lane – 10 minute drive from resort
distance: 6.3km
duration: 1.5-2hrs
The Luddington River Circular Walk is the perfect riverside walk that takes you from Stratford-upon-Avon, over to Luddington and back again. The trail will take you through fields, riverside paths and tarmac roads so we advise you wear appropriate footwear for all terrains. It’s a great walking route that is just down the road from the resort.
Clifford Chambers to Preston on Stour Circular Walk
start: The New Inn Hotel – 13 minute drive from resort
distance: 7.2km
duration: 2-2.5hrs
This circular walk takes you from Clifford Chambers through past Atherstone on Stour and Preston on Stour before heading back to Clifford Chambers. The trail takes you along open fields and forests and is a fun trail that is challenging in parts but still a great walk for all. The circular walk will not take longer than 2 and a half hours to complete either so a nice one to add into your day.
Boars Head, Church Street and Hampton Lucy Circular Walk
start: The Boars Head – 12 minute drive from resort
distance: 8km
duration: 2-2.5hrs
This is a great circular walk that takes you across many open fields that loop around Hampton Lucy and up to Hampton Wood & Meadow. It’s extremely easy to navigate and overall is quite a quiet walk. If you bring a dog make sure they stay on a lead at all times as sheep and cattle can be in some parts of the fields.
Wilmcote Circular Walk
start: Mary Arden’s Farm – 4 minute drive from resort
distance: 7.9km
duration: 2-2.5hrs
The Wilmcote Circular Walk is a great loop that takes no longer than 2 and a half hours to complete. Overall, the route is relatively flat and around half of the walk goes along the canal which makes it quite scenic. Some of the paths can get quite muddy in the winter months so bear that in mind when deciding what footwear to use.
10km+ walks
Stratford-upon-Avon to Alderminster
start: Shakespeare’s Birthplace – 9 minute drive from resort
distance: 10.5km
duration: 2.5-3hrs
Enjoy walking through the countryside and across the towns that sit between Stratford-upon-Avon and Alderminster. Along this trail you will go through fields, woodland, riverside paths, and town centres so it’s a great walk if you want to see a range of what Warwickshire has to offer. This is a point to point walk so you start in Stratford-upon-Avon and end in Alderminster.
Stratford and Tiddington Circular Walk
start: Stratford Greenway Car Park – 10 minute drive from resort
distance: 10.6km
duration: 2.5-3hrs
This large circular walk takes you from the centre of Stratford-upon-Avon and along the countryside to Tiddington and past the golf club. Overall this route is relatively flat and suitable for all ages and abilities who want a long walk. Some of the paths may be slightly overgrown in certain seasons so suitable pants are advised.
