The zoo also provides a home to rescued big cats, from other zoos or circuses, where they can live out their retirement in comfort. This conservation is extremely important and has been a passion of the zoo for decades.
You might even learn about the zoo’s history on the Isle of Wight, including the famous ‘tiger-walks’ which took place on the beach opposite the zoo (we bet that gave the local dogs a fright!). Learn more about the fascinating zoo and its marvellous animals on your visit.
Carisbrooke Castle

You can learn all about the castle, enjoy the extraordinary panoramic views and meet the super-friendly, and famous, Carisbrooke donkeys!
Osborne House
Visit this spectacular house, which was Queen Victoria’s summer home.
Explore the immaculately-kept estate, wander the woodland walk, and take in the patchwork of colours of the lush walled garden.
Walk the Grand Corridor which is home to priceless artwork, tour the state rooms and the Queen’s bedroom with a knowledgeable guide, to see what Royal life was really like.
Godshill Model Village
A fabulous family run business that has been open since the 1960’s, Godshill Model Village has been passed down the generations and is truly a must-visit attraction on the island.
Enjoy a taste of nostalgia as you wander the miniature sets, with a replica of the village’s chapel and a replica of Shanklin itself! Keep an eye out for the humorous scenes around the village and make sure to check out their calendar of events, with Halloween a popular time for night tours and new spooky scenes!
