We have five resorts in North Wales so it’s safe to say we know a thing or two about the best places to go and some hidden gems that you might not know about. So, we have put together this blog with a list of hidden gems whether you fancy a breakfast out somewhere new, a unique day out or something that’s perfect for kids you can find it in this list below. Betty Berkins

The Nant, The Glasdir View, Pentre Halkyn, Holywell, CH8 8BD

Betty Berkins is a family run coffee shop with incredible views of the countryside in a relaxing environment. Whether you are after a cooked breakfast to start the day, a bite to eat at lunch or just a coffee and a cake. They use the best quality, local produce to make all their food and sweet treats. Betty Berkins is also dog friendly and has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating so they’re the perfect stop all year round.

Pontcysyllte Aqueduct

Station Rd, Trevor, Llangollen, LL20 7TY

The 38-meters high and 3.7-meters wide aqueduct carries the Llangollen Canal across the River Dee. It consists of 18 stone and cast-iron arches and is an impressive sight to see. You can enjoy a walk around the area which takes you over Pontcysyllte Aqueduct or you can enjoy some food and drink at the café and just walk across and enjoy the views. That’s if you are brave enough, the path is only narrow with railings on one side and the canal for narrowboats on the other side.

Crown Inn

Village Rd, Lixwm, Holywell, CH8 8NQ

This 17th Century Coaching Inn is in the centre of the Welsh village Lixwm. If you don’t know about the village you will probably not have heard about this amazing pub. Inside is welcoming with wooden beams, log fires and comfy seating. So whether you fancy popping in for lunch or enjoying an evening meal here the menu has a range of traditional pub dishes like fish and chips, lasagne, burgers and more. Pictured is the steak & ale pie and the Kennedy’s Award-Winning sausages and mash.

Wizz Kidz

Interlinq Trade Park, unit 3a, CH5 2DW

One of the best indoor play centres in North Wales, Wizz Kidz has a huge 3 tiered play frame with swings, 4 lane slide, mini climbing wall, rope bridges and more. As well as the main frame there is also a separate toddler play frame, a sensory room and a disco room. Whilst the kids play the adults can enjoy the Wizzy Diner where you will find a selection of hot and cold drinks and snacks to enjoy. Prices start from £1 for adults and under 1’s, from £5 for under 3’s and from £6 for over 3’s.

Cae Dai Trust

Cae Dai Trust, Denbigh, LL16 4SU

The Cae Dai Trust can be found near the medieval town of Denbigh and is the perfect place to go if you love the 50s. The museum is known for being ‘a treasure chest of all things from the 50s’ and you will find all sorts here from vehicles, room settings, toys, boxing memorabilia and so much more. They are open daily from 11am till 4pm and costs £5 for adults, £3 for children and under 4’s go free.

Hawarden Farm Shop

Chester Rd, Hawarden, Deeside, CH5 3FB

The Hawarden Estate has a lot on offer, from walks around the acres or farmland and historical village. The Glynne Arms which is a village pub and of course the Hawarden Estate Farm Shop & Café. You could spend hours here with the amazing café and in house bakery serving all the best sweet treats and delicious meals. The pick your own fields with things like apples, pears, pumpkins, currants and more available throughout the year. The food hall, cheese counter and deli offering all the best options and finally the nature trail which goes around the fields and woodland that surround the farm shop.

Portmeirion

Portmeirion Ltd. Minffordd, Penrhyndeudraeth, Gwynedd, LL48 6ER

Enjoy a taste of Italy in North Wales by visiting Portmeirion. This enchanting village is just on the coast of North Wales and makes the perfect day out especially in the spring and summer months. It was built in the style of an Italian village between 1925 and 1975 and has all sorts of quaint shops and buildings to explore. There is also a hotel and award-winning restaurant, a giant chess board and a small sandy beach when the tide is out.
