We know everyone loves a resort tour, the perfect time to find your home from home, but if you’ve never been on one before we thought we would let you know what to expect!

One of the most exciting parts of buying a holiday home is the resort tour, where you can visit the resort, have a look around, and find the perfect destination for you! There are three key things to think about on your resort tour: finding your holiday home, the distance from your house, and is the resort is right for you and your family?

Your tour is for you, there’s no pressure to purchase and you can come back as many times as you like to make sure we’re the right fit for you (or even to just say hi!). We have eight unique and beautiful locations around the UK offering ownership, and the tour process is the same at all of them. Take a sneak peak at New Pines’ video tour below and head over to our YouTube channel for more videos!

What to do before you visit

The best tip we have is to create a shortlist of what you’ll be looking for when wandering around the resort, something like the below:

  • What’s in the local area?
  • Are you looking for facilities? What facilities are available?
  • Is the resort perfect for families or couples? What are you looking for?
  • What’s the distance from your house?
  • How much are the annual site fees?

If you have any questions about what you think should be on your list ask our team members, they are more than happy to help out!

The Park Tour Process

The tour will be tailored to your needs and there really is no pressure to purchase. The tour starts in the sales office, where you will probably have a cup of tea, get to know the team, and have a chat about what you’re looking for and a rough idea of your ideal holiday home. Then you’ll head out to walk the resort or jump in one of our buggies, which are such a fun way to see the resort!

While on the tour keep in mind:

  • Does it match your list of wants/needs?
  • Do you get the ‘right’ feeling? (similar to buying a house, you should get the ‘warm fuzzies’ when you’re walking around)
  • Can you see yourself and your family/friends enjoying the resort?

Once the tour is over you’ll sit down for a chat, and this can be where ever you’re comfortable, whether it’s in the office, having a drink in the lounge area of the bar/restaurant, or even around the resort where the children can enjoy the play parks in the sun!

What happens after?

This is when all fun starts, you’ll talk to our team members about the holiday homes you saw on your tour and which one was the perfect fit for you. Then you’ll look at different plots available on the resort and choose your location. From this point onward, you could be moving into your holiday home within 2 weeks! (eek! How exciting!)

We have eight ownership destinations around the UK waiting for you to discover them, from North Wales and Dorset to Somerset, Devon, and Cornwall.

We’ve all been confused and confuddled by sales speak at one time or another, but here at Darwin Escapes we wanted to simplify all the industry talk around buying a holiday home, so you know you can buy with confidence.

We’ve talked with our expert sales advisors and together we came up with the most common sales jargon phrases that we’ve explained below.

jargon – single lodge

  • explanation – a holiday home which is usually 13/14ft wide, it can typically have two and three bedrooms. It’s called a single lodge because it is transported to the resort in one single unit.

jargon – twin lodge

  • explanation – a holiday home that is normally 20ft or larger and will also have between two and three bedrooms. It’s called a twin lodge because it is transported to the resort in two separate halves, then assembled on site.

jargon – part ex

  • explanation – part exchanging your existing holiday home, motorhome, campers or tourer for a new holiday home or lodge. We also accept a part exchange holiday home or static caravan from a different resort.

jargon – bring on

  • explanation – transferring or ‘bringing on’ a holiday home you already own from another resort. Although our own resorts don’t offer this, you can upgrade to a fantastic new holiday home when you part exchange!

jargon – age limit

  • explanation – an industry term that means your holiday home will need to be changed or upgraded at a certain point in time. Here at Darwin Escapes, we have an open-ended ‘limit’, which means we will do an external visual inspection and ensure all holiday homes are up to our resort standard.

jargon – site fees

  • explanation – these are annual costs for the maintenance of the resort your holiday home is on. There do not include the monthly running costs of your holiday home, for example, your electricity or gas.

And those are our top picks if you have any other sales speak give our fantastic team a call and they can help out, call them on 0800 717 707.
