Whether you’re from around the area or on holiday here it’s always handy to know about the nearest dog-friendly pubs.
There is so much to see and do around the Peak District so you will probably find yourselves looking for a place to stop for food after a busy day exploring. But if you have brought your four-legged friend along then you need to make sure it’s a place that is dog-friendly. So we thought we’d do the research for you and put together a list of all the best dog-friendly pubs in the Peak District perfect for if you are staying with us at our Rivendale Lodge Retreat or if you are from the area.
Yorkshire Bridge Inn
Ashopton Road, Bamford, Hope Valley, Derbyshire, S33 0AZ
This family owned, multi award winning inn is the perfect place to go if you are exploring Ladybower Reservoir or are coming from around that area. With a beer garden and pub serving all the best classic pub food like pies, lasagne, steak and more. Food is served from 12pm – 8pm every day.
The Cock Inn
Junction of Bullhurst and Church Lane, Mugginton, Derbyshire, DE6 4PJ
For 10 years before being restored The Cock Inn building was empty. Now it has become an extremely popular pub located between Ashbourne and Derby. With outdoor eating huts, log burning fires and an incredible atmosphere you can enjoy delicious dishes from around the world. Food is served from 12pm every day.
The Old Dog
Spend Lane, Thorpe, Ashbourne, DE6 2AT
Located in the small village of Thorpe and just off the famous Tissington Trail, The Old Dog is the perfect place to stop for a bite to eat. Open from 12pm – 10pm Thursday – Sunday you can enjoy all the pub classics like fish & chips and burgers but you can also try out a range of pizzas and flatbreads and plenty of delicious desserts too.
The Old Sun Inn
33 High St, Buxton, SK17 6HA
This 17th century coaching inn has all the original features from oak panelling to stone floors. The Old Sun Inn is actually the second oldest building in Buxton and offers plenty of classic pub dishes like soup, burgers, fish & chips, pies and more. It’s a great place to head if you have explored the sites of Buxton like Solomon’s Temple or Poole’s Cavern.
The Cheshire Cheese Inn
Edale Road, Hope, Hope Valley, S33 6ZF
This 16th century inn is the perfect place to go if you are coming from a day out at Mam Tor, Kinder Scout or the Chatsworth House. So if you are after a dog-friendly venue that also offers good food and good beer then this is the place for you. They are open Tuesday – Sunday 12pm – 11pm and offer a range of foods like pie, fish & chips, steak and lasagne.
The George
1 Church Lane, Alstonefield, Ashbourne, DE6 2FX
Located not too far away from Mill Dale, The George at Alstonefield is an award winning rustic pub with a large garden perfect for the spring and summer months. The George grow a lot of their own vegetables in the warmer months and have chickens and ducks for eggs too. They are open Thursday – Sunday from 12pm offering a range of delicious dishes.
The Peak Hotel
How Lane, Castleton, S33 8WJ
Enjoy traditional homemade food with a twist at The Peak Hotel. Open 7 days a week from 12pm onwards you can enjoy sandwiches to light bites and pub classics like pie, burgers and soup of the day. And since it is close to Mam Tor and Bamford Edge it makes the perfect stop off for walkers as they say on their website ‘dogs and muddy boots welcome’.
The Bistro at Rivendale
Buxton Rd, Alsop en le Dale, Ashbourne, DE6 1QU
Although only available to book if you are staying at our resort, we thought we have to mention our Bistro at Rivendale. It’s a place you can sit back, relax and enjoy the countryside views with your four-legged friend. Whether you are after a small bite to eat for lunch or a delicious sit down meal in the evening there is plenty on offer.
