The Isle of Wight is home to some of the UK’s most beautiful beaches, offering everything from quiet coves to huge beaches full of fossils.

If you love sea views, soft sand and the sound of waves from your lodge, the Isle of Wight is the perfect place, specifically if you stay at our Woodside resorts. This little island has a beach for every kind of day out whether you’re after a lively seaside spot filled with charm or a quiet cove for a peaceful escape there is something perfect for all. So, if you are wanting a summer getaway or a weekend adventure, here are some of the best beaches on the Isle of Wight that you won’t want to miss.

Woodside Beach

Wootton Bridge, Ryde, PO33 4JR | 12 minute walk

If you are staying at either of our Woodside resorts on the Isle of Wight, you will be happy to know that you are just a short walk away from Woodside Beach through a private entryway with access to the beach. The beach itself is a sandy coast that stretches 800 metres and is a great place to enjoy a walk or even watch the sunset or sunrise during your stay at either of our resorts that are just a short walk away from the shoreline.

Ryde Beach

Esplanade, Ryde, PO33 1JA | 19 minute drive

Ryde is a town not too far from the resorts and offers exactly what you’d expect from a seaside town. Located on the north east coast, Ryde beach is a sandy beach with plenty of space at low tide. The town has plenty of amenities for during your time at the beach such as shops, amusements and cafes and restaurants. As well as the beach there is also the Ryde Pier which is nearly half a mile long and is the second longest seaside pier in the country.

Shanklin Beach

Eastcliff Promenade, Shanklin, PO37 6BJ | 32 minute drive

Shanklin Beach is probably one of the most popular seafronts on the island and there is something for everyone to enjoy. From the towering cliffs and the golden sandy beaches to attractions and activities like crazy golf and arcades. There are also plenty of spots for food and drink whether you’re after an evening meal, some fish and chips or just an ice cream.

Sandown Beach

Pier St, Sandown, PO36 8JP | 27 minute drive

Sandown Beach is a long, sandy, family friendly beach that is probably one of the most recognised beaches on the Isle of Wight. It offers a traditional seaside vibe with everything you’d imagine amusements and cafes along the traditional pier. The sea is great here for water sports so you can enjoy plenty of adventurous fun or just a relaxing day out here.

Steephill Cove

Steephill Rd, Ventnor, PO38 1UG | 37 minute drive

Steephill Cove is hidden beneath the rugged cliffs and offers a peaceful nook to unwind and relax beside the gentle waters. The area around the cove is full of charming cottages, rock pools and an intimate seaside charm. Since the cove itself is only accessible by foot, it feels completely untouched and the perfect retreat for coastal walks and enjoying the sea breeze.

Freshwater Bay

Freshwater Bay, Freshwater, PO40 9RA | 36 minute drive

Probably one of the most picturesque beaches on the west side of the island is Freshwater Bay. The pebble beach is popular all year round for beachside walks, swimming and boating, as well as there being direct access to the coast path. The village itself has plenty of cafes, shops and restaurants to enjoy too.
