Tunnels Beaches
Bath Pl, Ilfracombe EX34 8AN | 6 min drive from resort
The tunnels that you will find in this area were hand carved in the 1820’s and lead down to some incredible beaches in Ilfracombe. There are four different tunnels that take you to these private beaches with views out to sea. You can visit the tunnel beaches from April – October and admission prices start at £3.50 for adults and £2.75 for children. The two beaches are called the Gentlemen’s Beach (which is often used for weddings) and the Ladies’ Beach. Both are completely natural beaches with rugged and natural coastline.
Exmoor National Park
Approx. 20 min drive from resort
Exmoor National Park is an area of open hilly moorlands, woodland, rivers, and coastline that spreads across west Somerset and north Devon. Depending on where you want to go in the national park depends on what you will see but you can explore high sea cliffs, isolated beaches, remote moors and more. The area is great for stargazing, and they have various stargazing events on throughout the year such as the Dark Skies Festival in October that goes on for around two weeks with different talks on, stargazing, wildlife etc. and you can even see the Milky Way at some points of the year if you’re lucky.
Ilfracombe Sea Safari

Located on the harbour, Ilfracombe Sea Safari is the original sea safari company that offers a range of activities, experiences and safaris that go across the North Devon coast. The most popular trips that they offer are the 1 hour sea safaris, the 1 ½ hour sunset safari to the seals, the 2 ½ hour smugglers caves, seals and lighthouse, and the 2 hour waterfall, seal and Exmoor safari to Lynmouth. They even do various fishing trips and catamaran cruises so there is something for everyone who wants to explore the coast from the water.
Chambercombe Manor
Chambercombe Ln, Ilfracombe, EX34 9RJ | 4 min drive from resort
Owned by the Champernon family from around 1162, Chambercombe Manor is a unique and intriguing building that is full of history with becoming the property of Henry Duke of Suffolk in the early 16th Century. It is expected that Chambercombe Manor is haunted, and the manor was the focus of Living TV’s Most Haunted series in 2006. They do various paranormal evenings throughout the year so make sure you check if any are on during your time at the retreat for a unique and thrilling experience.
Blackbeam Cinematic Outdoor Cinema
Chivenor Business Park, 10, Barnstaple EX32 7NR | 26 min drive from resort
Each summer, Blackbeam Cinematic put on an outdoor cinema experience in North Devon. This year they have films like The Dark Knight Rises, Pulp Fiction and Life of PI showing. It’s a great unique experience if you want to plan a movie night that involves you enjoying a summers evening outside. Just make sure you bring your camping chairs, some blankets and snacks and you will have the best movie night.
Exmoor Zoological and Conservation Centre
Stowford, Bratton Fleming, Barnstaple, EX31 4SG | 24 min drive from resort
A trip to a zoo makes the perfect day out for all and luckily Exmoor Zoo is under 25 minutes away from the resort. There are plenty of animals to see and learn about around the zoo like the black leopard, monkeys, various birds, reptiles, and amphibians. The café at the zoo has a range of food and drink options from sandwiches, hot baguettes, chips, burgers, and other various hot and cold choices. But they also have a picnic area if you wanted to bring your own food to eat whilst you’re there.
Rock and Rapid Adventures
Hacche Mill, South Molton, EX36 3NA | 41 min drive from resort
If you are wanting to try out something adventurous and fun for the day, then you’ll want to head to Rock and Rapid Adventures. An adventure centre where you can try out a climbing wall, coasteering, axe throwing, archery, outdoor climbing, and water sports. It’s a great way to try out something new and maybe finding a new hobby whilst you’re there. Prices start from £15 for taster sessions for all activities.
