Hidden away on the edge of the Lake District, Thanet Well is the picturesque place to visit for a relaxing escape in the Cumbria countryside

Half term can be spent exploring the outdoors of the Lake District, with events for the whole family, there will be something to capture everyone’s interest!

This family workshop is run by Cumbrian Artist of the Year, Karen Babayan, who will help you develop the craziest creature you can think of to print! Here you will learn the basics techniques of relief printmaking, and you will be inspired by all sorts of fantastically freaky creatures to help you create your own character print using Styrofoam. All materials are provided, so drop in and have a go at this fun and creative workshop!

At this workshop you will discover a different way to print, you can make lots of amazing pictures by repeating the same design! You will learn how to screen print and put your own design on a tea towel to take home with you the same day and show off to all your friends and family. It’s recommended that you visit the Great Print Exhibition in the Rheged Gallery before hand, you can see over 380 Printmaker styles, giving you a wide variety to be inspired by for the activity ahead.

When: 21st – 23rd Feb

This workshop is back by popular demand, a lovely place where all would-be Knights can make their very own wooden sword, as well as their own shields, or if you are more of a peaceful creature you can also create a beautiful heart decoration for friends and family.

The Immersion Theatre Company present this family show of Alice in Wonderland, where you will follow Alice and the White Rabbit as they set off on a colourful adventure like no other! You’ll meet a host of outlandish characters, as well as your old favourites such as the troublesome Tweedle Twins, the Queen of Hearts, the Cheshire Cat and of course, the best of them all, the Mad Hatter! Fancy dress is thoroughly encouraged when coming to watch this fantastically fun show!
