average life span of static caravans?
Usually, if you keep up to date with maintenance, static caravans can last up to 30 years, sometimes even longer. Although one thing you need to keep in mind is the rules at the resort or park your static caravan will be sited at. Most of the time the things that will need to be replaced can be done easily so that it stays up to date with the standards of the resort and will then extend the lifespan of your static caravan.
how long can you keep your static caravan at a Darwin Escapes resort?
After an initial period between 10 to 30 years (which would vary depending on which park they’re on and the size and model type of the holiday home) we would perform an on-going annual inspection of the holiday home to make sure it’s in-keeping with the standard of the resort and is safe to use.
The Inspection consists of a visual external walk-around of the holiday home and we would require a Gas and Electric Safety certificate from a qualified Gas Engineer and Qualified Electrician.
things to consider to extend the lifespan of your static caravan
When you first purchase a static caravan you’ll want to make sure you know exactly how to look after it and increase the lifespan. After all it is a lifestyle investment so getting decades worth of memories is worth the maintenance effort. Here are a few things you can do to extend the lifespan of your static caravan:
- Each year winterise and complete a full drain down before the winter close to avoid the risk of flooding
- Keep gutters and roof clear of any water and leaves to stop the roof rotting
- Inspect, reseal and replace any windows and doors that may be letting in a draft
- Keep an eye on flooring and add extra support or replace any that seem to be worn down or bouncy
- Add a skirt to your static caravan chassis to protect the underneath from wind and rain
