There is so much to see and do in Surrey it can be hard figuring out which are perfect for kids.

So to make things easier for you we’ve done some research and put together a list of 10 things to do in Surrey that are perfect for kids. These are all different things that can be done throughout the year and will suit kids of all ages. Jane Austen’s House

Winchester Rd, Chawton, Alton GU34 1SD | 25 minute drive

The Jane Austen’s House Museum is a small independent museum where the author spend the last eight years of her life. The building has been a Grade I listed building since 1963. Learn all about where she wrote her novels and explore the house and gardens. It’s an ideal place to visit if you are a fan of her work or budding enthusiast or even if your children have been studying her recently at school.

Go Ape

Go Ape Alice Holt, Bucks Horn Oak, Farnham GU10 4LS | 17 minute drive

Experience new heights in a tree top adventure that all the family can get involved in. Go Ape in Alice Holt is the perfect experience with a treetop challenge, treetop adventure plus and treetop adventure which are all suited to family fun. Make your way across super high platforms, challenging obstacles and zip wire rides. There is also a play area, café and restaurant where Go Ape for you to use.

Birdworld

Holt Pound Ln, Farnham GU10 4LD | 14 minute drive

The perfect day out for families with kids of all ages, Birdworld has over 1,200 birds and other endangered animals from all over the world. With daily events running like penguin feeding and animal encounters and a safari train that you can go around the 26 acre park in! When it comes to places to eat there are various cafes and kiosks dotted around the park with hot and cold food choices.

Stonehenge

Salisbury SP4 7DE | 1 hour 12 min drive

One of the world’s most famous prehistoric monuments and an impressive site to see. Although it is over an hour drive away from Tilford Woods it is definitely worth a visit whilst you are down that way. Each stone is around 13 feet high, seven feet wide and they weigh around 25 tones! You will be able to learn so much about this wonder of the world by visiting Stonehenge.

Divers Cove

Godstone, Surrey, RH9 8ND | 1 hour 6 minute drive

If you are after something a little different why not head to Divers Cove? A huge 7.3 acre reservoir where you can enjoy open water swimming, hot tubs and saunas. It was formally used for sand extraction and due to the natural biodiversity and sandy bottom in the lake the water glows a turquoise green and the water quality is exceptional. Pre booking is essential if you are wanting to come here during your time in Surrey.

Guildford Lido

Lido Rd, Guildford GU1 1HB | 26 minute drive

Since opening in 1933 it has been an extremely popular public swimming pool and a perfect day out in the spring and summer. The 50m swimming pool is set around 4 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens. Whilst you are at the pool there is plenty of room around to chill and set up base for picnics and catching up. You can also hire deck chairs whilst your there, play crazy golf and use the water slide.

Windsor Castle

Windsor SL4 1NJ | 50 minute drive

Known for being the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world and the place where The Queen spends most of her weekends. Windsor Castle is a great family day out where you can learn about the 1,000 years of royal history. There is so much you can see whilst you are there from the changing of the guard to Queen Mary’s doll house and even St George’s Chapel.

Chessington World of Adventures

Leatherhead Rd, Chessington KT9 2NE | 40 minute drive

Within Chessington World of Adventures you can enjoy the theme park, zoo and Sea Life. Throughout the park there are different themed areas with rides such as Wild Asia, Forbidden Kingdom and Pirates’ Cove. There are 6 different theme park restaurants too offering fish & chips, fried chicken, pizza and more. There is so much to see and do here which makes it the perfect family day out.

Thorpe Park

Staines Rd, Chertsey KT16 8PN | 44 minute drive

Home to the UK’s fastest rollercoaster, Stealth, Thorpe Park is the perfect day out for thrill-seekers. There are rides to suit all ages along with 4D experiences, a playground and live events. They also have events throughout the year like Mardi Gras, Oktoberfest and Fright Nights. Spend the whole day here and grab a bite to eat whilst you’re there at one of their many restaurants and food stalls.

Marwell Zoo

Thompson’s Ln, Colden Common, Winchester SO21 1JH | 56 minute drive

Within the 140 acres at Marwell Zoo you will find over 149 species and 1,200 animals, some being critically endangered. Marwell Zoo is known for its success in breeding a range of endangered animals like the Amur leopard, snow leopard and the black and white ruffed lemur. Enjoy learning all about the animals at the zoo and exploring different areas and events that are on during the day like the BRICKOSAURS! Evolution.
