Dundonald Castle still has remains from the 14th century hilltop fortified tower house. On the grounds they have also added a visitor centre and historical exhibition. Known for being one of Scotland’s hidden gems and located in the rural part of South Ayrshire. You will be able to explore and learn about the impressive history behind this 3500 year old site! Whilst you’re there enjoy some hot food and drinks at the café, explore the museum and enjoy sitting around the play and picnic areas that are around.

Scottish Maritime Museum

If you want to learn more about the historic vessels, artefacts, shipbuilding tools and more from Scotland then you should definitely make the trip to the Scottish Maritime Museum. The museum itself is housed in a glass-roofed Victorian Linthouse. Tickets for the museum are priced from £8.50 and it is open daily from 10am to 5pm.
