what to do before checking in?
You will be able to check into the resort from 4pm but make sure you start your holiday earlier than that by visiting Bude before you check in. Under a 15-minute drive away from the resort, Bude is a stunning seaside town with plenty to keep you busy. From little seaside shops to a huge range of cafes and restaurants as well as beaches and Bude Sea Pool. Whether you are planning on spending the whole day there before you check in or just a few hours it’s a lovely town with something for everyone to enjoy.

Although there is plenty to keep you and your kids entertained at the resort it can also be nice to go out for a day and make some memories in the local area. Below you will find a range of places to visit that are all around an hours’ drive away or under, so they make the perfect day trip in Cornwall.
1. Tintagel Castle
45 min drive from resort
Located on the clifftops in North Cornwall, Tintagel Castle is the perfect day out and no longer than a 45-minute drive away. It is a medieval fortress and there is plenty to explore during your visit as well as there being a circular walk that takes around 4 hours to complete if you are wanting to spend the whole day there. As well as the impressive views of the castle, the views out to sea and beyond are also incredible and well worth the visit.
2. Hartland Abbey
29 min drive from resort
Known for being the home of the Stucley family, you can explore Hartland Abbey and the treasures and memorabilia that has been collected over many generations. There is so much to see and do around the Hartland Abbey Estate from events throughout the year to family attractions like the Woodland Summerhouse, going to see Nutkin the Donkey and climbing on the huge Thuja tree!
3. The Milky Way Adventure Park
23 min drive from resort
An award-winning adventure park that is the perfect all weather family day out. The Milky Way Adventure Park has everything from Ziggy’s Blast Quest, Cosmic Typhoon, Gravity Rider, Adventure Play Area & Slides, Dodgems and more. So there is plenty to keep everyone busy all year round as well as various events that they host throughout the year too.
4. The BIG Sheep
34 min drive from resort
Known for being an amusement farm park, The BIG Sheep is a great family day out and under 35 minutes away from the resort. As well as various events that are on throughout the year they also have the usual things to see and do from family rides, live shows, indoor playgrounds and outdoor fun areas. There are also plenty of animals to see along the way from lambs, pigs, goats, ducks and more!
5. Eden Project
1hr 16 min drive from resort
Although a little further away from the resort, if you are looking for a day out and don’t mind a little bit of a drive the Eden Project is definitely worth the visit. The botanical gardens are extremely well known and there is plenty to do for people for all ages. There are various events on across the year and a brand new playground as well as a range of beautiful gardens to explore.

As each accommodation type at Sandymouth is fully self-catering you will probably be cooking your own food a lot of the time. But that doesn’t mean you can’t go out and enjoy a meal or two during the holiday, right? Below are a few restaurants in the local area worth visiting during your stay.
1. The Crust Pizza Co
13 min walk from resort
If you are after a pizza to either eat in or takeaway The Crust Pizza Co is the perfect choice. They are locally owned and hand craft their own dough, using Sicilian sauce and creamy Italian mozzarella they create a range of delicious pizzas. They also make sure they use fresh seasonal produce using the best ingredients they can get from both Italy and Cornwall. You can even see them at work creating the pizzas whilst you sit and enjoy your food.
2. Rosie’s Kitchen and Starboard Wood Fired Bistro
13 min drive from resort
This family run beachside café is the perfect stop if you are looking for delicious food in a great location in Bude town centre. Whether you are after something for breakfast, lunch, dinner or somewhere to stop for a coffee and an ice cream you can do it all at Rosie’s Kitchen. On the menu you can expect to find a range of breakfast dishes, hot and cold sandwiches, woodfired pizzas, dirty fries and more.
3. The Bank at Bude Tapas and Grill

The Bank at Bude Tapas and Grill is the perfect place to go if you want to enjoy some tapas, seafood, steak, wine, and cocktails. They use traditional Spanish ingredients and infuse them with fresh produce that they have sourced locally to create their incredible dishes. It is also a dog friendly restaurant which is perfect if you have brought your four legged friend with you on holiday.
4. Life’s A Beach

A popular café during the daytime and just as popular in the evening as a bistro, Life’s A Beach is the perfect choice if you are looking for a menu that is full of delicious seafood. The location is perfect too with stunning views out to Summerleaze Beach in Bude town centre. So, whether you are after a bite to eat during a beach day or you are looking for a place to go for your evening meal this is the perfect place for both.
5. Sea Fever
14 min drive from resort
Sea Fever is located in Bude and is a French bistro inspired seafood restaurant. Since North Cornwall is known for the best fish Sea Fever thought they’d use the opportunity to serve the fish and lobster that has been caught in Bude Bay. So if you are looking for a restaurant to enjoy not only delicious seafood but seafood that has been caught locally then Sea Fever is the place for you.

Whilst you are in Cornwall a beach day is a must! And there are so many to choose from it can be hard figuring out which one to go to. Below you will find two different beaches that are close to Sandymouth and perfect to visit during your stay.
Sandymouth Bay Beach
3 min walk from resort
Sandymouth Bay Beach is located just down the road from the resort and makes a great beach day. It’s a popular beach where you can explore the vast stretch of sand that is edged by incredible cliffs. There is a National Trust car park at the end of the road as well as a café and it takes around 5 minutes to walk down onto the beach. It’s also perfect for watching the sunset in the evening during your holiday especially with it being so close to the resort.
Summerleaze Beach
15 min drive from resort
Summerleaze Beach is an award-winning beach in Bude town centre. A popular place for surfing or beach days. Lined with colourful beach huts, you can enjoy relaxing and watching the world go by for hours here. It is also known for its water sports and there are many surf schools that use the beach for their lessons. You can easily spend a whole day here as it is right in the centre of the town so you are never far from a restaurant or shop.
