Our Talacre Beach Resort is the perfect holiday destination to create memories with your loved ones.
Whether you want to make the most of the seaside town or use it as a base to explore North Wales there is plenty to keep you busy on holiday. But if you have never been to North Wales or our resort before it can be hard knowing all the key information which is why we have put together this blog. Below you will find a list of useful information from the closest shops to things to do and everything in between. what to do before checking in?
You can check into your holiday accommodation at Talacre Beach from 4pm but don’t wait till then to drive over to North Wales. We recommend you making the most of your first day by planning a day out prior to check in! A good place to spend a few hours before heading to the resort is Greenfield Valley Heritage Park which is just 15 minutes away. It’s a 70-acre country park full of woodlands, reservoirs, ancient monuments, and incredible history to discover. You will also find The Bakehouse Café where you can enjoy a bite to eat in between exploring the park. Throughout the year Greenfield Valley also has various events from outdoor theatres to re-enactment weekends and more so you will want to check their events calendar to see if there is anything you’re interested in.

North Wales has so much to see and do that it can be a little bit overwhelming trying to decide what days out you want to do. So, we’ve put together this list of a few of the top things to do in the area. Everything listed below is within a 45-minute drive from the resort, so they make the perfect options for a full or half day out.
1. SC2 Rhyl
18 min drive from resort
Located just a short drive from the resort is SC2 Rhyl which is a leisure complex with an indoor waterpark, outdoor splash pad, adventure play and ninja TAG. It’s the perfect family day out all year round due to it mostly being indoors. They also have a café serving various hot and cold food and drink options as you will work up an appetite during your time at the complex.
2. Gwrych Castle
32 min drive from resort
Probably most famous for being the home of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! during the pandemic in both 2020 and 2021, Gwrych Castle is an impressive castle and estate that you can explore. There are various events on in the castle and grounds throughout the year to so make sure you check their calendar closer to when you visit to see if anything suits your group.
3. Welsh Mountain Zoo
37 min drive from resort
Since opening in 1963 as a small family run business, Welsh Mountain Zoo is known as the National Zoo of Wales and is also the oldest and most established. Across the 37 acres you will see around 100 different species from tigers and penguins to bears and alligators. They even have a lemur walk where you can go inside the habitat and see the primates up close.
4. Loggerheads Country Park
39 min drive from resort
Loggerheads Country Park is located inside of the Clwydian Range & Dee Valley and is rich in wildlife and heritage. With endless trails to explore throughout the park, a café and picnic area you can enjoy a full or half day here. The River Alyn runs throughout the park too and you can walk along side it on one of the trail routes.
5. Chester Zoo
44 min drive from resort
With over 80 different animals across 128 acres, Chester Zoo is known for being one of the best and is under 45 minutes away from Talacre Beach. It makes the perfect day out for everyone, and you can spend hours exploring all the different habitats. Some of the animals you may see are classics like elephants, giraffes, tigers along with some more unique animals like the okapi, red panda and bush dog.

where to eat out?
All our accommodation at Talacre Beach is self-catering so you can cook all sorts in the comfort of your own holiday home. But sometimes it’s nice to enjoy a meal out and a change of scenery so below you will find a list of different restaurants in the local area all under a 30-minute drive away.
1. The Point Bar & Restaurant
7 min walk from resort
The Point Bar & Restaurant is right in the centre of the village and just down the road from the resort. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and have various singers, entertainment, and sport on throughout the week. So, if you are fancying getting out of the resort for a meal but don’t want to go far The Point Bar & Restaurant will be perfect. They serve all the classics like burgers, pizza, fish and chips and more.
2. The Bells of St Mary’s
3 min drive from resort
Part of the Stonehouse Pizza & Carvery group, The Bells of St Mary’s is just a short drive away from the resort and is popular with locals. They serve everything from all you can eat breakfasts to carvery roasts and stone baked pizzas. They are open 7 days a week from 9am – 10pm so you can always pop in here before or after a day out for a hassle-free meal. They also have various offers on throughout the week including 2 for 1 on burgers and pizzas.
3. Torello Lounge
10 min drive from resort
Located right in the centre of Prestatyn, Torello Lounge is a quirky and uniquely decorated bistro offering everything from breakfast, dinner or even just evening drinks. They have a huge menu full of so many delicious options from buttermilk pancakes, chicken burgers, Mexican superbowl, tapas dishes and more. So, you will find something you’ll love on their menu. There are different deals on at Torello Longe too from tapas Tuesday to cheeky Mondays and lunchtime deals.
4. Likya Mediterranean Turkish Restaurant
21 min drive from resort
Since opening in 2022, Likya has become an extremely popular restaurant to visit. Located on Flint high street you can enjoy a wide selection of Mediterranean and Turkish dishes. Whether you are after a cheeseburger, T bone steak, or a mixed kebab you will be able to enjoy it all at Likya. As well as that you will also find a good range of vegetarian dishes and sea food options. They are open everyday bar Monday till 11pm.
5. Indian Lounge
27 min drive from resort
The Indian Lounge in Nannerch is a modern and contemporary restaurant that offers a range of classic Indian dishes. Open every day apart from Tuesday you can enjoy this family run restaurant whenever it fits into your holiday. They have all the classic dishes like tikka masala, onion bhajis, poppadom’s, sag aloo and more along with various set meal deals and the Sunday banquet deal that you can take advantage of.

Talacre Beach Resort is right on the North Wales coast so you can expect to find some amazing beaches just a short drive away from the resort. Below you will find two of the best that are closest and perfect for a full day out.
Talacre Beach
11 min walk from resort
As you probably already know from the name of the resort, Talacre Beach Resort is just over a 10-minute walk from the resort. There is over 4 miles worth of sandy beach to explore along with endless sand dunes and the grade 2 listed lighthouse Point of Ayr which dates all the way back to 1776. You can spend a whole day at this beach and in the village, you’ll find an ice cream shop, arcades, bakery and shop to cater for all your needs.
Prestatyn Beach
8 min drive from resort
Prestatyn is known for being a seaside town and their beach makes a perfect day out. Spread across 4 miles you can walk all the way from Prestatyn to Rhyl from the beach. Right on the beach front you will find the Beach Hut Café & Bar and Red Boat Ice Cream Parlour serving a range of hot and cold food and drinks. This is another amazing beach that you can spend all day exploring with your family. The car park is right by the beach too so you can walk straight onto the sand.
