Are you planning a trip to Cornwall and wanting to stay at our Mullion Cove Coastal Retreat?

As the name suggests, Mullion Cove Coastal Retreat is located right on Mullion Cove and offers stunning views, a peaceful setting, and the perfect getaway for all. One of the most popular things to do in the area is explore the coastal path and other incredible walks around Mullion. So, we thought we’d do the research for you and put together a list of various walks that are either right by the resort or a short drive away. Below you will find walks suitable for all from 2-3km walks all the way to walks that are 10km or over.

Lizard Point Loop - walks near Mullion Cove

1-5km walks

Kynance Cove Walk

start: National Trust – Kynance Cove Car Park – 16 minute drive from resort

distance: 4.2km

duration: 1-1.5hrs

Enjoy seeing the rugged terrain of the Lizard Peninsula as you go along the Kynance Cove Walk. The start is sign posted from the car park and is easy to follow all the way around. The trail will probably be busy as it is a popular tourist site but don’t be put off the views are worth it. The area is amazing and there are plenty of areas to explore on your way around the trail.

Lizard Point Loop

start: National Trust Lizard Point Car Park – 15 minute drive from resort

distance: 5km

duration: 1.5-2hrs

This route is a full loop which starts and ends at the National Trust Lizard Point Car Park. It will take no more than 2 hours to complete and is a 5km trail where you can see the incredible views of the Lizard Point. The route is popular so make sure you get there early to secure a parking space. On the walk along this part of the Cornish coast you will pass lighthouses, small cottages and incredible scenery.

Helford and Frenchman’s Creek Circular Walk

start: Helford Car Park – 27 minute drive from resort

distance: 5km

duration: 1-1.5hrs

The Helford and Frenchman’s Creek Circular Walk is on the opposite side of the South West coast to Mullion Cove but is definitely worth the short drive over. It’s an easy route that won’t take too long to complete but offers plenty to see along the way from walking though the Helford village to some woodland and open fields. Whilst you are in the woodland you will walk along the bank of Frenchman’s Creek where you can enjoy the peaceful scenery.

Godolphin Estate

start: National Trust Godolphin Car Park – 30 minute drive from resort

distance: 2.5km

duration: 0.5-1hr

This is a lovely short walk that goes around the estate of the Grade I listed Tudor/Stuart mansion. The public footpath runs from the house to the nearby Godolphin Hill which you can climb and enjoy the views of the stunning Cornish countryside. It’s a great shorter walk that still has plenty to see and do along the way, make sure you look out for wildlife like ponies in the summer.

Lizard Nature Reserve - walks near Mullion Cove

6-10km walks

Church Cove and Poldhu Cove Walk

start: Church Cove Car Park – 22 minute drive from resort

distance: 6.1km

duration: 1.5-2hrs

A shorter walk but still an amazing one that offers you the chance to take in some amazing scenery along the Cornish coast whilst seeing a couple of impressive caves. This walk starts by taking you past the Mullion Golf Course and along the coast to the viewpoint that overlooks Church Cove. The walk continues where you eventually end up at Poldhu Cove which is a scenic seaside destination which is popular with tourists.

Mullion Cove Circular Walk

start: Porthmellin Car Park – 1 minute walk from resort

distance: 6.3km

duration: 1.5-2hrs

This walk will allow you to enjoy incredible views across the coast of Cornwall. It’s just over 6km long and is perfect for all abilities, although there is some hilly terrain nothing is too steep along the route. Parts of the circular walk pass through the beautiful Lizard National Nature Reserve where you can see white sandy beaches and all the rest of the natural beauty Cornwall has to offer.

Helford Passage and Dennis Head Walk

start: Helford Car Park – 27 minute drive from resort

distance: 8.4km

duration: 2-3hrs

Enjoy scenic viewpoints along the English Channel with the Helford Passage and Dennis Head Walk. It’s a fairly easy but longer walk which will take between 2 and 3 hours to complete. Enjoy walking along the banks of the Helford River and along till you reach Dennis Head where you can look out across the English Channel. It’s a great walk full of amazing waterways along Cornwall’s coast.

Goonhilly Downs

start: Goonhilly Downs National Nature Reserve Walk Car Park  – 17 minute drive from resort

distance: 7.5km

duration: 2-2.5hrs

This walk is amazing if you are wanting to explore the Lizard National Nature Reserve. From starting in the car park just head north towards the Satellite Station where you will see the iconic satellite dishes. You will also find a Bronze Age standing stone here too before continuing to the forest. During the walk make sure you look out for wildlife like ponies and deer along with amazing plants like the Heath Spotted Orchid near the large pond area.

South West Coastal Path - walks near Mullion Cove

10km+ walks

South West Coastal Path: Poldhu Cove to Kuggar

start: Poldhu Cove Car Park – 6 minute drive from resort

distance: 21.9km

duration: 5.5-8hrs

This route goes across the whole of the South West coastal path and starts in Poldhu Cove and ends in Kuggar. You will go along the whole of the Lizard Peninsula and it’s the perfect walk for seeing all that Cornwall has to offer with the beaches, coves, and cliffs you will see along the way. Although this is a long walk it can be made as long or short as you want, you could walk for as long or as little as you please and then just head back to the car park.

Loe Bar Walk

start: Fairground Car Park – 20 minute drive from resort

distance: 11km

duration: 4-5hrs

Enjoy this Loe Bar Walk which is a circular walk that goes through the Loe Bar and Loe Pool, the pool is known for being the largest natural freshwater lake in Cornwall! Starting from the car park you will find the trail which heads south through the Loe Valley. Its an incredible walk which goes past a range of sights from a creek, woods, and even the National Trust’s Penrose Estate!
