Owning a holiday home at New Pines Holiday Home Park means you are in the perfect location for some amazing walking routes along the North Wales coast and countryside.

But if you aren’t from the area or need some inspiration it can be hard finding some good walking routes. So, we thought we’d do the hard work for you and put together this handy blog with a range of walking routes from shorter 3km walks to walks that are over 10km. walks around Rhyl

1-5km walks

Rhyl Circular

start: Westfield Road – 7 min drive from resort

distance: 4.5km

duration: 1hr

The Rhyl Circular route is a great choice if you are wanting something close to the resort whilst still being an ample walk. Starting on Westfield Road you will make your way along roads and fields before looping back and passing Brickfield Pond Nature Reserve. It’s a route that won’t take longer than an hour to complete and is a great addition if you are wanting to spend a morning or afternoon in Rhyl.

Marine Lake Circular

start: Marine Lake Car Park – 12 minute drive from resort

distance: 1.6km

duration: 20-30mins

A short and sweet walk that takes you around the Marine Lake in Rhyl. Just a 12-minute drive away from the resort you will be able to park at one end of the Marine Lake and walk around it. There will also be chance for you to spot some wildlife around the area, and you can spend some time exploring the play park and miniature railway which has been open for over 100 years that is nearby.

St. Asaph River Elwy and Cathedral Circular

start: Cathedral Car Park   15 minute drive from resort

distance: 5km

duration: 1-1.5hrs

The St. Asaph River Elwy and Cathedral Circular walk is overall an easy route that takes you on a loop past the River Elwy and the historic Cathedral on various pavement and grassy paths. The walk offers some nice views throughout and starts and ends in the town centre so you could enjoy a drink or bite to eat in one of the local cafes or restaurants afterwards.

Mynydd y Cwm

start: Rhyl, LL18 6HT – 13 minute drive from resort

distance: 2.4km

duration: 45mins-1hr

A slightly more challenging route but great if you are after something that won’t take longer than an hour is the Mynydd y Cwm circular. Starting on Hiraddug Road you will make your way up to the viewpoint where you can take in the views out over the Welsh countryside.

walks for when you're at New Pines

6-10km walks

Rhyl Sands

start: Rhyl Harbour Car Park 13 minute drive from resort

distance: 6.3km

duration: 1-1.5hrs

Enjoy the incredible coastline that North Wales has to offer whilst you’re at New Pines by doing the Rhyl Sands walk. It’s an out and back style walk that starts near Rhyl Harbour, from there you will be able to walk along the beach front till you reach the Splash Point and then you can turn around and head back. It’s a great walk for a sunny day or to add to a beach day.

Graig Fawr and Prestatyn Dyserth Way Circular

start: Hillside Car Park – 14 minute drive from resort

distance: 7.7km

duration: 2-2.5hrs

This circular walk takes you along the Prestatyn-Dyserth-Way to Meliden before heading up to the top of Craig Fawr. When you get to the top of Craig Fawr you can enjoy incredible views over Prestatyn especially on a clear day. Some parts of the trail can get quite steep but worth it for when you get to the top.

Gronant Circular

start: Hillside Car Park – 14 minute drive from resort

distance: 8km

duration: 2-2.5hrs

Enjoy the 8km Gronant Circular walk that takes you from Gwaenysgor to St Elmos Summer House before making your way back down to Upper Gronant. There are various fields and country roads and woodland that you will make your way through along the trail with plenty of countryside views to enjoy.

Abergele Circular

start: Abergele, LL22 8LJ 14 minute drive from resort

distance: 9.8km

duration: 2.5-3hrs

During the 9.8km Abergele Circular walk you will make your way along streets, roads and woodland trails whilst having stunning views of the Welsh countryside. With the chance to spot some wildlife when you are in the wooded areas of the trail in Coed Abergele. It will take no longer than 3 hours to complete and is considered a moderately challenging route.

10km+ walks

Rhuddlan Kinmel Bay River Clwyd Circular

start: Promenade Pay & Display Car Park 15 minute drive from resort

distance: 10.6km

duration: 2.5-3hrs

If you are looking for a longer walk that is fairly easy to complete, then the Rhuddlan Kinmel Bay River Clwyd Circular is perfect. It takes you along the banks of the river and back towards the centre of Kinmel Bay offering views of the water and countryside surrounding you.

Dyserth Circular

start: Dyserth Falls Car Park – 13 minute drive from resort

distance: 10km

duration: 2.5-3hrs

If you are wanting a well-rounded circular walk that offers a little bit of everything, then the Dyserth Circular walk will be the perfect choice. Taking no more than 3 hours to complete you will be taken across a range of terrains with some steep inclines in parts. You will also be able to see the waterfall during this walk.
