From famous zoo’s and country parks to glorious mountains and sandy beaches. Take a look at some of our favourite things you can do in the local area below.
Greenfield Valley Heritage Park

Enjoy exploring the 70 acres of woodland and learning about 200 years of history and 800 years of heritage at Greenfield Valley. With a museum, visitors centre, giant adventure playground, ancient monuments and more you will find something to keep everyone entertained.
It’s the perfect family day out and you will spend hours exploring the park. The family and dog friendly Bakehouse Café & Restaurant is open 10am-4pm and serves a range of hot and cold food with indoor and outdoor seating.
Talacre Beach
CH8 9RP | 30 min drive away
In just under 25 minutes you could find yourself at the beach. Talacre Beach is a huge beach on the North Wales coast with sand dunes and the iconic Point of Ayr Lighthouse. Whether you are after a beach day or a walk around the coast it’s a great place to head.
In Talacre village you will find everything you need to spend the whole day there. With a bakery, fish and chip shop, ice cream shop, bar and restaurant, arcade and a shop selling all of your beach day necessities.
Chester Zoo
CH2 1EU | 40 min drive away
Across the 128 acres you will find over 35,000 animals at Chester Zoo. One of the most famous animal conservation and zoo sites in the whole of the UK it’s the perfect place to go for a full family day out. The best part about the zoo is due to its size you can go again and again.
Learn all about each species and even watch a talk or two whilst you’re there. As well as the animals there is also plenty of food and drink spots and play areas for children to enjoy. And don’t forget to pop into the gift shop at the end of the day!
Theatr Clwyd
CH7 1YA | 20 min drive away
Wales’ largest producing theatre always has a range of different shows and productions on throughout the year. From comedians to plays, dance shows to musicians. Make sure you check out what’s on during your time at Plas Isaf and see if anything takes your fancy.
The theatre was built in 1976 to provide more cultural opportunities for everyone in North Wales and in 2018 they won an Olivier Award for Home, I’m Darling. There are plenty of places around Theatr Clwyd for a bite to eat afterwards too.
Loggerheads Country Park
CH7 5LH | 20 min drive away
Located in the village of Loggerheads, Denbighshire, Loggerheads Country Park is the perfect place to explore. With a large woodland, river valley and high cliffs there is so much to see and do here. The café at the country park is also open most days and offers plenty of hot and cold food.
If you walk up to the top of the cliff at the start of the country park you will be able to enjoy views across the Clywdian Range and beyond. Devils Gorge is also located in Loggerheads where many abseil down the 120 foot drop.
