We’ve almost come to the end of 2022 so now is the perfect time to look back on the year and all the amazing things that have happened at Darwin Escapes.
2022 was the first year since the pandemic that felt a little bit more ‘normal’ so everyone could enjoy going on holiday, buying a holiday home for the first time and we could continue expanding on the resorts we have at Darwin Escapes. Have a read below to see all the things that have happened this year.
new resorts started:
Plas Isaf Lodge Retreat
Early on in 2022 we started building our latest North Wales resort Plas Isaf Lodge Retreat which is set to open in 2023. It will offer holidays and holiday home ownership options which means you can enjoy a weekend break away or endless holidays in North Wales when you buy a holiday home on the resort. It’s located close enough to the A55 that you can easily travel across and explore the North Wales coast, but still peaceful as it is surrounded by the stunning Welsh countryside for a relaxing escape.
Blenheim Palace Lodge Retreat
Our newest resort that will be opening in 2023 we are working in partnership with Blenheim Palace. Blenheim Palace Lodge Retreat will be set in the stunning grounds of the Blenheim Estate and will offer the perfect self-catering getaway. If you’ve always wanted to explore Blenheim Palace and the rest of Oxfordshire too then this luxurious lodge retreat will be for you. With a range of one-, two- and three-bedroom lodges you will be able to find the perfect accommodation to suit any group size.

prize providers for Britain’s Got Talent
This year we were the proud prize providers of Britain’s Got Talent 2022. The prize on offer was a stunning 3-bedroom 2-bathroom lodge and site fees package worth over £200,000!
Chester Zoo
We have been partners with Chester Zoo for the past 6 years and this year we sponsored their Wildlife Connections Festival. It was an event across a weekend in September and allowed visitors to learn more about nature in the nature reserve at Chester Zoo.
Birmingham Hippodrome
Birmingham Hippodrome is one of the busiest theatres in the UK and has various events and shows on throughout the year. This year we continued our support that helped Birmingham Hippodrome show productions like Joseph and Mamma Mia.
Royal Shakespeare Company
Our partnership with Royal Shakespeare Company continues this year and we continued sponsoring various events and shows. This year we sponsored Henry VI: Rebellion and Wars of the Roses.
Lifestyle Show
This year we attended the Lifestyle Show in Telford which was a 3-day event where businesses could showcase what they offer with things like electric bikes, campers and more. We were there showcasing our stunning hotel pod lodges that you can book at The Springs Resort & Golf Club in Oxford.
Derby Book Festival
In May we attended the Derby Book Festival. It’s a 9-day event with over 50 events across ten different venues. This year we sponsored a Takeover Day where nine authors discussed their books across ten events, along with shared reading snippets throughout the day.
British Heart Foundation
Each year we make a donation of furniture to British Heart Foundation from all of our resorts. This includes 2 seater sofas, 3 seater sofas, armchairs, bedside tables, coffee tables, dining room tables and chairs. The furniture donated this year raised £23,616 revenue at British Heart Foundation shops.
Hoseasons Awards
This year was the first year since the pandemic that we could attend the Hoseasons Awards. It was another great year for Darwin Escapes, and we are proud to say we won eight awards in 2022 – 6 Diamond Awards and a Best in Britain:

We are constantly doing things to improve our website and make it easy for you to find out any information you need about booking a holiday or buying a holiday home. But we have had two big changes to the website this year.
new blog layout…
At the start of the year, we modernised the blog with a new layout so that information and images can be displayed in a much clearer and up to date way. The filters on the main blog page have also been updated so you can easily find whatever ideas, news or inspiration you are looking for.
new resort layout…
By the end of 2022 we updated all our resort home pages to a brand-new layout displaying all the key information a lot clearer for you to find.
favourites…
The last thing we added to the website in 2022 is the favourites page. With this functionality you will be able to favourite all the resorts and holiday homes for sale that you like the most. Then by clicking the heart in the corner of the website they will all be displayed there so it is easy to see them in one place.
what to expect in 2023?
We will continue providing you with incredible family holidays, group getaways and couple escapes across the UK. Give new holiday home owners all the help they need throughout the buying process along with opening Plas Isaf Lodge Retreat and Blenheim Palace Lodge Retreat. There will also be continuous improvements to the website to ensure your experience on the website is as positive as it can be and you find all the information you need.
