With 4 fabulous family friendly destinations in North Wales, Darwin Escapes are also happy the summer holidays are here! Our locations offer a full range of entertainment and activities for all ages to enjoy, but if you’re looking at getting out and exploring the local area, we’ve listed the best family friendly events this August for you to enjoy…

Where: Harlech Castle / When: Every Tuesday / Times and prices vary

Every child over the age of 5 can learn what it takes to be a successful and loyal Knight of Ardudwy. Get stuck in at the workshops and learn some new skills while being entertained by these legendary Knights!


kid’s history festival

Where: Conwy Castle / When: Every Friday / Times and prices vary

Conwy Castle is home to a huge range of family fun things to do this Summer! There will be an abundance of Medieval fun and games to get stuck into, take part in the wand workshop (think Merlin…) and have your mind blown at the falconry displays. Learn all there is to know about hero Owain Glyndwr and join up with Welsh rebels, while the Knights and jesters keep up the entertainment. There will also be a fun Victorian playtime workshop where you’ll mainly learn how much better toys are now.


Beaumaris food festival

Where: Beaumaris town green, LL58 8AP / When: 31st Aug – 1st Sept / Times: 9.30am – 7pm / Prices: £5, under 14s go free

A hugely popular annual event, which is filled with food, drink and entertainment. There will be over 100 exhibitors (so much food…), with international, national and local businesses taking part, there will be something for everyone! Live music acts will be on the main stage throughout the weekend, with guest speakers having dedicated tents and plenty of children’s entertainment around to keep everyone happy.


rock the park music festival

Where: Wrexham, LL18 9SG / When: 9th – 12th August / Time: 12noon – 12midnight/ Prices: £12.50, under 12’s go free

Now in its 3rd year, this family friendly music festival features the UK’s best rock and pop tribute acts, including Robbie Williams, Foo Fighters, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Guns N Roses and Queen! The Friday night is reserved for the world class DJs, including Basshunter, N-Trance and Ultrabeat. There will be fairground rides to enjoy and the festival village offers to fulfil all your drink, food and shopping needs. A fantastic firework show will end the weekend event.

Where: Welsh Mountain Zoo / When: Everyday / Time: 9.30am – 6pm / Prices: Adult £15.15, Child £11.40, Family of 4 £47.65

Spend the summer enjoying all the fantastic animals at the zoo, from the tigers and brown bears, to the snow leopards and range of primates. The zoo will also be hosting a number of fun themed days through the holidays, as well as workshops and fun talks for all ages.


superstars of wrestling

Where: Rhyl town hall, LL18 1BA / When: Every Tuesday / Times: 7pm – 9pm / Prices: £10

A fantastic family friendly 2 hour show, the Superstars of Wrestling is always a popular show in Rhyl, so definitely snap those tickets up quick!
