On the day of arrival, you will not be able to check into your lodge until 4pm but that doesn’t mean you have to wait to start your holiday then! Learn all about the history of Shakespeare when you visit his birthplace. It is a restored 16th century half timbered house located right in the centre of Stratford-upon-Avon. This is where it is believed that William Shakespeare was born in 1564 and where he grew up. You can head inside and discover the fascinating history around the storyteller.

2. Anne Hathaway’s Cottage

Anne Hathaway was William Shakespeare’s wife to be. Whilst you are in Stratford-upon-Avon you can visit where the cottage where she was born and raised. The cottage itself was built over 500 years ago and had been extended over the years. The Hathaway family had lived there for 13 generations so there are plenty of stories to discover as you explore.

3. Royal Shakespeare Company

The Royal Shakespeare Theatre is a grade II listed theatre owned by the Royal Shakespeare Company right by the River Avon in Stratford-upon-Avon. 4. Stratford Butterfly Farm

Stratford Butterfly Farm is known for being the UK’s largest tropical butterfly paradise. In Stratford-upon-Avon town centre you will find the leafy tropical environment. 5. Canal and River Tours

The River Avon runs through Stratford-upon-Avon and if you head to the Stratford Canal you will be able to jump on a boat and enjoy a tour. A canal boat departs every hour from 11am each day so there will be plenty of choice of days and times during your holiday. The tour lasts around 40 minutes and you can just turn up at least 10 minutes before to buy your tickets and get ready to board.
