Atop the crest of the hill, the Farnham castle keep overlooks the town of Farnham, so climb to the top to enjoy beautiful countryside views! Take in the impressive shell keep and motte of the castle built in 1138 by the Bishop of Winchester, the brother of King Stephen. This is very first monastery founded in Britain, and offers a fascinating day out at Waverley Abbey. Located next to the River Wey, the monks lived a simple life in 1128 and the started a Cistercian settlement along the south of England. Explore Waverley Abbey and beyond, including the 13th Century vaulted refectory and the huge dining hall.

Right on the door step of the resort is the village of Tilford which has its own Rural Life Centre, considered to be the largest countryside museum in the South of England. The exhibits on show include large number of devices and tools which have been used for farming over the past 150 years -a true glimpse of the region’s past!
Farnham is also well connected to the surrounding area with its local train station, which has direct lines to London and can be reached in approximately 50 minutes.
